Webber confident about 2007 results

Mark Webber is confident that he and future teammate David Coulthard will disappoint their critics in 2007 with the results they will pull in at Red Bull Racing

The Australian will leave Williams at the end of the year to join Coulthard at the Milton Keynes-based operation, just two seasons after he left the outfit when it was then called Jaguar.

Webber is eager to start working alongside Coulthard and thinks that their vast experience will help move Red Bull Racing up the grid.

"It should be absolutely fine with David, he is very, very experienced - as I am," explained Webber. "He has had a lot of teammates in F1, as I have. He has had some strong ones like Mika (Hakkinen) and Kimi (Raikkonen) so he has worked at the highest level, which is great.

"We are both still very motivated and hungry, there is no question about that, and it is the best season that will come out of Milton Keynes. I think it is going to be a really, really good one. Both of us can continue to disappoint people with our good results."

Webber claims that the key factor that convinced him the move to Red Bull Racing was right for him was the presence of designer Adrian Newey.

"Adrian was part of the decision making for me," said Webber. "He is a very, very talented guy in terms of what he has achieved in F1. They have got some good things going on there for the future. I am excited to be part of that, they were keen to get me and we worked hard to make the deal work.

"This season is not a reflection of what the team are capable of. They are looking to have a strong season for sure and they are a team with some of the most potential in the pitlane.

"They have some very, very good people on board, they have a solid budget and they will have a good season next year."

When asked how difficult a decision it was for him to turn his back on Williams, he said: "In the end, for me, it was probably harder than for the people around me.

"Everyone else was totally convinced by it and I was convinced in the end, although it was not too difficult to convince me. I was really, really ready for something different.

"Flavio (Briatore) said, 'This is a great opportunity for you and I advise you to take it.' So I listened to him.

"We were just very close to making things work here. It didn't work out in the end because Red Bull came very, very late to propose something for the future. So we were close with Williams and in the end we went with Red Bull."
