Webber apologises to Alonso
Jaguar driver Mark Webber has apologised to Renault's Fernando Alonso after the incident during Sunday's Bahrain Grand Prix in which Webber appeared to brake test the Spaniard
Alonso criticised the standard of driving shown by his rivals after the Bahrain event, saying that some drivers were "a little too hard to overtake".
But Australian Webber said that inaccurate information on his pit board told him that the Renault behind him was that of Jarno Trulli, who Webber assumed would be lapping him.
However, the Jaguar ace caught a glimpse of Alonso's helmet and radioed his team for confirmation as to whether he was racing the Renault for position or being lapped. It was during this short period of confusion, when Webber was also shown a blue flag, that the two "brake test" incidents happened.
"Fernando must have thought I was really screwing him," explained Webber. "But I had two lots of different information coming at me at the same time - the blue flag and the team screaming at me that I was racing for position.
"So one moment I was slowing down to let him pass me at a difficult spot, the next moment I was racing him. I apologised to him afterwards."
