Canadian Jacques Villeneuve has praised his British American Racing 004 car after today's free practice for the Australian Grand Prix.
The former World Champion, who almost won in Melbourne in his Grand Prix debut in 1996, said that the car still needs speed but is confident the Honda-powered team will be able to move forward after posting the 12th quickest time today.
"The car is a lot more driveable," he said. "We are not quick enough yet but this car is good to drive aggressively so I think we will be better off in qualifying. We should continue to get closer during the weekend. I love this track so I'm looking forward to the race on Sunday."
Villeneuve's teammate, Olivier Panis, was also confident in the car and is looking forward to Saturday's qualifying session.
"I feel good about the car despite the result on the timesheet," said Panis, who ended the day in 18th place. "In the damp conditions this morning I was the quickest at one point."
