Trulli gives up on predicting Toyota win

The Italian had high hopes of securing Toyota a triumph at Spa-Francorchamps after qualifying on the front row, but a first corner collision with Nick Heidfeld scuppered his chances and left him deeply disappointed.

Now, with only five races remaining this season for Toyota to achieve its ambition of standing on the top step of the podium, Trulli says he will not allow himself to build his hopes up at individual events.

"I have given up predicting now, because no one knows what is going to happen," said Trulli, who heads to his home race at Monza this weekend.

"At Spa I was really fired up, but after one corner it was all over. Not racing at all is the worst thing that can happen to you."

Toyota's chances at Monza will be hurt by the fact that KERS cars are expected to have a significant advantage over the weekend - although Trulli has acknowledged that getting luck on the team's side may be the single factor that is stopping them delivering that elusive victory.

"To win you also need a bit of luck," he said. "You cannot always have this bad luck because without some luck you cannot win.

"Sometimes with luck you have to look for it, because we are trying our best and it looks like things do not want to turn around for us.

"I am so disappointed because what happened at Spa was amazing, as I hadn't done anything wrong and again something goes wrong - it was a big shame."
