Jordan driver Jarno Trulli set the fastest time of the day in Barcelona, where the Bridgestone-client teams concluded this year's work after a three-day testing session.
The Italian jumped to the top of the time sheets during the dying minutes of the session, setting an astonishing time of 1:19.586, almost a second and a half faster than Michael Schumacher's pole position at this year's Spanish Grand Prix.
Fastest during the morning session with a best time of 1:19.956, Nick Heidfeld was second quickest after the second part of the day, as he was unable to improve on his already spectacular lap.
Reportedly running on qualifying tyres, which will make its return this year as part of the upcoming tyre war between Bridgestone and Michelin, Heidfeld continued his impressive form of the previous days.
Third fastest was Ferrari's Rubens Barrichello, who had a hard day of work, completing a total of 88 laps, more than a Grand Prix distance. The Brazilian was able to improve during the afternoon session, but he was still two tenths slower than on Tuesday.
McLaren driver David Coulthard was fourth fastest, also improving during the afternoon, while Kimi Raikkonen was fifth for Sauber, the young Finn using a new engine after the unit used until Tuesday ran out of mileage.
Olivier Panis was the fastest of the BAR drivers on his first head-to-head test with new teammate Jacques Villeneuve.
The Frenchman, who ran off the track during the morning session, managed to achieve the sixth quickest time, while the 1997 World Champion was only seventh after completing 71 laps.
Heinz-Harald Frentzen was eighth fastest for the Jordan team, while McLaren's test driver Alex Wurz occupied the last position.
This was the last testing session of the year 2000 for the Bridgestone users, who will begin working again in January.
