Trulli 'devastated' after penalty
Jarno Trulli said he was "devastated" after being hit with a 10-second penalty that could have cost him a podium place in the German Grand Prix.
Team boss Eddie Jordan has asked the FIA to launch an investigation as to why officials penalised the Italian for supposedly overtaking Rubens Barrichello coming out of the pits. Some reports say they had offered three or four other reasons for the penalty before settling on the Barrichello reason.
Jordan met Ferrari bosses after the race, and he has asked the FIA to launch their own investigation.
"The so-called 'luck of the Irish' really does not seem to be with us at the moment," said Jordan. "Once again points and podium finishes were lost.
"The situation with Jarno does not seem to be very clear. We are not sure why he got a stop-go and we have asked the FIA to look into it.
"We deserve better and I am sure our luck will change."
Trulli was adamant he had not overtaken the Brazilian who went on to win. "He and I were side by side and I was on the racing line so I cannot understand the decision," he said. "We raced well and our strategy was perfect. Our lack of luck is really painful and I feel devastated."
Team-mate Heinz-Harald Frentzen saw his car ground to a halt with electrical problems after he was battling for second place with David Coulthard. "For those who say I am fast but not aggressive I think I proved them wrong today," he said. "I know I could have been on the podium and the disappointment will hit me later.
"It's a great shame things did not go right for Jarno and yet again."
