Trulli Confident of Fighting for the Title Soon

Italian Jarno Trulli is confident he will soon be able to fight for his first Grand Prix win with the Renault team.

Italian Jarno Trulli is confident he will soon be able to fight for his first Grand Prix win with the Renault team.

26-year old Trulli, who drove for the Jordan team in 2001, has moved to the Renault outfit for the 2002 season, swapping teams with compatriot Giancarlo Fisichella.

With the French team and after 80 Formula One Grands Prix, Trulli believes he will soon be able to win races and is confident of fighting for the Championship.

"Renault finished last season very well thanks mainly to a lot of work developing the car, both on the engine and the chassis, to finish as possibly the fourth best team in terms of performance," Trulli, who finished in ninth place in the standings this year, told TF1.

"I am extremely happy to have joined this team which has a lot of potential and has won World Championships in the past. Renault has returned to Formula One with a very exceptional project. I am confident that Renault can build a team around me that can win races, and soon the Championship."

The Benetton team were taken over by French giant Renault, who will make their official return as a Formula One team next year after supplying engines to Benetton in 2000 and 2001.
