Todt: Ferrari are Clearly Ahead

Ferrari's sporting director Jean Todt believes Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix was a clear reflection of the gap between his team and the rest of the Formula One field.

Ferrari's sporting director Jean Todt believes Sunday's Spanish Grand Prix was a clear reflection of the gap between his team and the rest of the Formula One field.

"The race at Barcelona has in fact demonstrated that there is a significant gap between us and the others," Todt told Gazzetta dello Sport. "Actually, it was dominance: since I have been at Ferrari, I have never seen a car as dominant."

World Champion Michael Schumacher led every lap of the event at the Barcelona circuit to score his fourth win in five races this season. Schumacher, who had started from pole position, finished 35 seconds ahead of Williams's Juan Pablo Montoya, while his Ferrari teammate Rubens Barrichello failed to start the race following a problem with his F2002 during the formation lap.

"We must absolutely try to improve our reliability," Todt said, referring to the Brazilian's car failure - his third of the season. "The problem experienced by Rubens made me a lot less happy than it might appear. We must find out what caused this failure.

"The people in the team have great talent and a lot of determination and are capable of conceiving a winning car. But we must concentrate on the continuation of the Championship and what is required to remain in front."
