Teams head south for final test

The Formula 1 teams take to the track for the final time in 2002 as testing kicks off in Jerez today (Thursday)

McLaren, Renault, Williams and Jaguar have all headed down to Sherry country for a four-day test, which starts today (Thursday). The four will become five when BAR joins the party on Friday.

Kimi Raikkonen and Alex Wurz are in action for McLaren today as the team seeks to continue its encouraging winter testing form. Marc Gene and Ralf Schumacher should provide their stiffest challenge in the Williams. Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso will be keen to get more understanding of the 2003 chassis Renault is running with this year's aerodynamics, while Jaguar drivers Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia must be hoping for greater reliability from the hybrid R3C, which is being used as a test bed for Cosworth's new 90-degree engine.

Ferrari is typically bucking the trend, but will be testing on two fronts, with Luca Badoer in action at Barcelona and Luciano Burti continuing his running at the team's Fiorano test track.

Sauber is also at Barcelona, while Toyota is once again in action at Paul Ricard in France.
