Still hope for DC at Red Bull
Red Bull Racing owner Dietrich Mateschitz appears to have given David Coulthard some renewed hope of race drive in the team he recently bought from Jaguar
However young Red Bull-backed rising stars Christian Klien and Vitantonio Liuzzi still seem to be at the top of the team's shopping list.
"Among the experienced drivers with 'development know-how', David Coulthard and Nick Heidfeld would be of interest, for example," he told Reuters today.
The Austrian drinks magnate had previously been quoted in the German paper Bild am Sonntag as saying: "Coulthard is not part of our selection."
Mateschitz has again made it clear that RBR aims to bring a young, fun, attitude to Formula 1, in-line with Red Bull's carefully nurtured image. Klien and Liuzzi, who have tested for the team at Barcelona this week fit perfectly with that and Mateschitz is still talking enthusiastically about both youngsters.
"Christian Klien should get his chance," said Mateschitz, "but he has to prove himself in a series of tests - just like Vitantonio Liuzzi, who impressively won the Formula 3000 championship as a Red Bull junior driver."
