Stewart and Brundle Re-Elected to BRDC Board

Former Grand Prix drivers Jackie Stewart and Martin Brundle have been re-elected as president and chairman of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) respectively.

Former Grand Prix drivers Jackie Stewart and Martin Brundle have been re-elected as president and chairman of the British Racing Drivers Club (BRDC) respectively.

Owners of the Silverstone circuit, the BRDC and its president Stewart hope to develop the Northamptonshire track to reach the current Formula One standards following their 15-year agreement to host the British Grand Prix.

"The BRDC still has a lot to do to make sure we are able to afford the scale of investment that we believe will be necessary to make Silverstone a centre for excellence for British motor sport and industry, and to grow our commitment to development of the sport at all levels," said Stewart.

Silverstone reached an agreement with Octagon Sports, who will be in charge of managing the circuit, but the British government announced they will investigate the deal to make sure it's not anti-competitive.

"The Octagon agreement has removed a substantial element of risk by separating the Club (BRDC) from commercial circuit operations, but there is a period now of getting back to basics," Brundle said.

"We need to concentrate on building our club's financial strength and membership services and securing our future ability to re-invest in our sport."
