10 and 100

Following Lewis Hamilton claiming his 10th career victory in Hungary, in Valencia Rubens Barrichello scored his 10th grand prix win. In doing so he became the driver that has taken the highest number of races to do so - 278. Before that, Gerhard Berger had taken the longest (203).

It was Barrichello's first win in five years, since the 2004 Chinese Grand Prix, though at nine years and 24 days it does not make him the driver with the longest time between first and last wins. That record is held by Michael Schumacher, who had 14 years, one month and one day between his 1992 Belgian GP victory and his last in the 2006 Chinese GP.

Barrichello's win was also the 100th for a Brazilian driver. Emerson Fittipaldi scored the first, in the 1970 US Grand Prix. Great Britain leads that chart with 206 victories.

Timo Glock set his first F1 fastest lap of the race at Valencia, which was the 100th time it has been set by a German driver.

Glock is the ninth different driver this year to set a fastest lap - the highest total since 1983. If one more driver sets a fastest lap this year, 2009 will tie the all-time record of 10 - set in 1954, 1975, 1976, 1981 and 1982.

Qualifying notes

• Lewis Hamilton's 14th career pole position was the first for a McLaren or Ferrari after a 10-race drought. It was also McLaren's 300th front row start.
• McLaren swept the front row of the grid for the first time since the 2008 Hungarian GP.
• A BMW started inside the top 10 for the first time since the Turkish GP.
• With just 1.014s separating Hamilton's pole time and Robert Kubica's 10th place time, it was the closest Q3 session of the season so far.
• Luca Badoer qualified last for the 11th time in his career, moving him to fourth on the all-time list alongside Bruno Giacomelli, Christijan Albers and Gaston Mazzacane. Tarso Marques is top of that list, qualifying last 18 times in 26 races.
• It was only the 16th time that a Ferrari has qualified last for a grand prix. The most recent was the 2006 Monaco GP where Michael Schumacher was penalised for blocking the track. The last time a Ferrari qualified last not due to a penalty or mechanical failure was the 2004 Chinese GP, where Michael Schumacher spun off on his single-lap attempt.

• Car #23 won a grand prix for just the third time. The first was Jim Clark in the 1964 Belgian GP and the other was Heikki Kovalainen in Hungary last year.
• Kimi Raikkonen scored his 60th career podium, tying Nelson Piquet for sixth place in the all-time list.
• Mark Webber's run of six consecutive points finishes came to an end, and Red Bull failed to score a point for the first time in 10 races.
• Sebastian Vettel suffered his second straight mechanical failure, extending the record of total failure by cars numbered 15 to 266. The number 22 is next on the list with 260 breakdowns.
• The European Grand Prix was the 250th of the partnership between McLaren and Mercedes.
