Silverstone test, day two: Panis on top

McLaren's Olivier Panis resumed his customary place at the top of the times during the afternoon's testing at Silverstone again today (Wednesday)

The Frenchman was once again ahead of team-mate David Coulthard, but this time the pair of them edged out the morning's fastest man Giancarlo Fisichella.

Luciano Burti gave Jaguar a boost by finishing the day 4th quickest, but his team-mate for the day Dario Franchitti was two seconds off his pace and still looked uncomfortable with the 2000-spec F1 car.

Jarno Trulli crashed after completing 53 laps of the track, damaging the front right suspension of his Jordan and the front wing. Luciano Burti also crashed, five minutes before the end of the session.
