Silverstone, day 1: Monty heads Gene
The Williams team had the Silverstone circuit to itself today (Tuesday), as it began a three-day test at the British circuit in preparation for the crucial final two races of the year
Juan Pablo Montoya and test driver Marc Gene were in action for the team, both working on brake and suspension components, as well as Michelin tyre testing.
The Colombian was the fastest of the two, with his best lap of 1m20.059s outpacing the Spaniard by 0.897s, although Gene completed the highest number of laps.
"We managed to cover over 800km of running which has provided us with some invaluable information for the last two races of the year," said test team manager Tim Newton.
