Schumacher thankful to Ferrari

Michael Schumacher has expressed his gratitude to the Ferrari team for the work that enabled the German to win two races in a row

Schumacher bounced back from two disappointing races by winning the San Marino Grand Prix, and the Ferrari driver showed the Imola win was no fluke by scoring a commanding victory at the European Grand Prix.

The seven-time world champion said he was proud of his team after the hard work they carried out to bring the team back to the top.

"After a success like this, the feelings of joy just aren't going away. And I'm sure the boys on my team feel the same way," Schumacher said. "I'm so proud of these lads: the way they pushed themselves, the way they got over last year's performance, the way they kept going, that's absolutely spectacular.

"The way we presented the best package of them all at the fifth race this season, after having been so far behind last year, that's something that no other team would achieve in this period of time.

"We moved forward inch by inch, checked and improved every detail, developed new things and so improved the car in all areas steadily. And all of these details, all these small things put together were decisive for our performance yesterday.

"That was exactly what we had aimed for. I think it's fair to say that our work in terms of development over the last couple of weeks was not just the fastest, but also the best. Of course that's extremely satisfying - and extremely motivating at the same time.

"It's plain to see what can be achieved due to that. But on the other hand, we know very well how quickly the situation can change, after all, we just showed that ourselves. So our objective is quite clear: we will not let up in the slightest."

Despite his two consecutive victories, however, Schumacher knows there will be hard times this season.

"Of course we'll see some ups and downs, depending on each particular track, and of course the other teams will grow stronger as well, but that's the nature of this sport," Schumacher added. "Formula One is one of the toughest competitions around.

"But I'm a true competitor, all of this is incredibly fun for me. I'm already looking forward to the race at Barcelona. I'm looking forward to the next fight."
