Schumacher Plays Down McLaren Chances in Canada

World Champion Michael Schumacher has played down McLaren's chances of winning Sunday's Canadian Grand Prix despite Scot David Coulthard claiming victory in Monaco two weeks ago.

The German driver wants to bounce back to winning ways at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve this weekend after losing out to Coulthard for the first time in five races.

Ferrari driver Schumacher has written off the McLaren driver's chances of back-to-back success and claimed that the Williams pair of Juan Pablo Montoya and his brother Ralf will pose the biggest threat.

"I believe the Williams of Ralf and Juan will be our main competition," Schumacher said today in Canada. "McLaren, from what we have seen on this type of circuit in the past, will struggle to be competitive. But we will see."

Schumacher has won five of seven races this year, and the Monaco Grand Prix was the first race where the Ferrari F2002 was beaten. The four-time champion leads in the standings by a massive 33 points over Montoya and Ralf.
