Schumacher: McLaren is under pressure

McLaren is reeling following Ferrari's blistering start to 2000, according to Michael Schumacher

Ferrari travels to this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix with Schumacher leading the world championship and McLaren remaining without a single point.

The German, who has maximum points after winning the opening two races of the year, believes the pressure is on McLaren duo Mika Hakkinen and David Coulthard.

Speaking to michael-schumacher.org, the German said: "The fact that McLaren were so irritable (after Ferrari's two opening victories) showed me that they are really concerned."

Schumacher also believes his leg-shattering accident at last year's British Grand Prix changed his life.

"It opened my eyes about several things," he admitted.

"I feel more free in my head."

The German broke his leg after crashing into a wall at high speed during the Silverstone race.

He said: "Suddenly everything around me was still. I heard my heartbeat less and less, and for a moment it stopped. Then my heart started beating loud and regularly again.

"As I was lying on the ground, I was thinking all the time: this is it, what some people talk about, when they say they've been on the other side and back."
