Sauber Duo Pleased with Qualifying Showing

The Sauber team were satisfied with their performance in today's first qualifying session for the British Grand Prix.

The Sauber team were satisfied with their performance in today's first qualifying session for the British Grand Prix.

"I am quite happy with my lap under these circumstances," said German Nick Heidfeld after posting the 14th fastest time with his Petronas-powered C22. "But I must say that it didn't go that well for me in free practice as my car was understeering a lot.

"In preparation for qualifying this afternoon we made a change in the set-up without having the chance to test whether it would be good or not. Fortunately it paid off and gave me a much more balanced car."

Like Heidfeld, teammate Heinz-Harald Frentzen also struggled in his morning's practice session, but his car worked better in qualifying and the veteran German was able to put on a good performance to finish right behind his teammate in 15th position.

"I think my lap was pretty good," Frentzen admitted. "I didn't have any major problems and in contrast to today's free practice session in the morning, the car's balance was improved for qualifying."
