Rosberg on Williams' Shortlist

Williams have admitted that Nico Rosberg is on their shortlist of candidates to possibly replace Nick Heidfeld later this year, but the team have insisted no decision has been made yet

With continued doubts that Heidfeld will be fit to return before the end of the season following his bicycle accident last weekend, there has been mounting speculation that Rosberg could be drafted into the team for the Japanese and Chinese Grands Prix.

But team boss Frank Williams has made it clear that his team have not made any decision about their drivers for the rest of the year - even though Antonio Pizzonia is almost certain to race for the outfit at next weekend's Brazilian Grand Prix.

"Nico is on a list with quite a few other people, and with quite a few variables to be considered before we reach the conclusion whether or not Nico is the right candidate to represent us," Williams told The Guardian on Friday.

"One of the variables is obviously whether or not Nick is fit. But no decision has yet been made."
