British American Racing founder Adrian Reynard has regained the leadership of Reynard Motorsport after Rick Gorne stepped down as chief executive of the company.
Gorne and Reynard were both involved in the launch of the BAR team in 1999, while the latter still owns a stake in the Brackley-based team. Reynard, the chairman and founder of Reynard Motorsport, appointed Gorne as chief executive in 2001 following his departure from BAR in a bid to help with the growth of the company.
But following the terrorist attacks on the United States in September, the company has failed to achieve its aims and Reynard revealed that Gorne has stepped down from his position and he will take over.
"It is disappointing that Rick and I haven't been able to accomplish our goals at this time," Reynard said. "It's been great working with Rick again over the last few months and he remains my close confidante.
"My priority now is to ensure that Reynard Motorsport has a strong, healthy future and I, along with the directors of the company, are presently reviewing the operations and administrations to ensure that we are best placed to meet the ever increasing demands for competitiveness."
Reynard Motorsport have been involved in motor racing for 28 years and will continue to supply race cars to America's Champ Car series.
