Red Bull F1 team resolves brake issue behind Kvyat's test problem

Red Bull lost valuable track time after Kvyat returned to the pits with smoke coming from the right-rear wheel of the car, with a fire extinguisher required to get the situation under control.

"We had a little issue with the brake duct and we took a little bit of time to understand it and sort it out," Kvyat told reporters shortly after the day's running finished.

"The guys did a good job, because the rest of the day there were no issues."

When asked by Autosport if the fix was only temporary, he added: "No, the guys sorted everything out, so it shouldn't be a problem anymore."

Kvyat has one more day of pre-season running this week, and he accepts Red Bull will have to find a way to make up for the time it lost.

"We would have liked to have done more laps but there is still another day of driving for me which we will try to make as busy as possible, driving as many laps as possible, which we perhaps lost today," he said.

"We've done quite a good amount of work until now.

"There are some other things we have still to go through in these last three days of testing.

"We have a little bit extra work to do, but I'm sure we can make up for it.

"There is nothing specific we are working on - we reached quite a happy place quite soon, and then it's about small things.

"The real progress we will see in Melbourne and the first couple of races.

"[In Australia] it will be the real deal: everyone will be driving under the same pressure and pushing to the limit."
