Ralf Outpaces Briscoe at Jerez - Day Six

German Ralf Schumacher outpaced Australian Ryan Briscoe on the sixth day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain.

German Ralf Schumacher outpaced Australian Ryan Briscoe on the sixth day of testing at the Jerez circuit in Southern Spain.

Both drivers were hindered by a thick fog which covered the circuit all morning, and it wasn't until lunch time that they were finally able to work in proper conditions.

German Schumacher continued with the development work of the new Williams FW26 and completed a race distance without any incidents. Schumacher also worked on tyre testing and set a best time of 1:17.904 after 90 laps around the Spanish track.

Toyota's test driver Briscoe was the only other man in action today, the Australian carrying out reliability work for the Japanese squad. Briscoe covered 107 laps and finished less than a tenth of a second behind Schumacher.

The BAR-Honda team, who were scheduled to test today, decided to skip the session and they will be back in action tomorrow for the final day of testing at Jerez, where they will focus on tyre testing on a wet track.

Today's times:

Pos Driver Team-Engine Tyres Time Laps 1. R.Schumacher Williams-BMW (M) 1:17.904 90 2. Briscoe Toyota (M) 1:17.959 107 All Timing Unofficial
