German Ralf Schumacher was disappointed after missing out on pole position for tomorrow's Hungarian Grand Prix.
Williams driver Schumacher, who had been due to start 10 places further down the grid before his punishment for causing an accident at the last race was translated into a $50,000 fine, will start alongside Spaniard Fernando Alonso, who scored his second pole of the season.
Ralf was happy to be ahead of teammate Juan Pablo Montoya but disappointed to miss what would have been his fourth pole of the year.
"Certainly I'm not so happy with being second," Schumacher said. "Being on the inside here, on the dirty line, is not the best place to be but hopefully Fernando will be nice and kind and open the door tomorrow and then it will be a nice race."
Colombian Montoya, the winner of the German Grand Prix and Michael Schumacher's closest title rival who needs to beat the German by seven points to secure the overall lead, starts on the second row after setting the fourth quickest time.
"The car felt really good during today's qualifying," said Montoya. "I could have gone quicker than I actually did but after being very fast in sector one I took the conservative way and really paced myself because I wanted to make sure to get a good lap in.
"I am fighting for the Championship especially with Michael, of course, and the most important thing is starting ahead of him, tomorrow. I think we've got a really good race car and it's going to be an interesting race."
