Raikkonen Happy with Friday's Work

Finn Kimi Raikkonen was happy with his day's work at the Hungaroring circuit after posting a promising fourth fastest time in practice.

Finn Kimi Raikkonen was happy with his day's work at the Hungaroring circuit after posting a promising fourth fastest time in practice.

"As expected the circuit was still very slippery today, but we found quite a good set-up," said Raikkonen, who was nearly a second off Michael Schumacher's pace. "So I am happy with our work so far.

"We now have to see how we can further improve the balance in tomorrow's practice when there will be a better grip level because of the additional rubber on the track."

The Woking-based team, who have scored one win this season at the Monaco Grand Prix, endured a day of mixed fortunes, with Scot David Coulthard suffering from some mechanical problems as well as a puncture during the second hour-long session.

Coulthard hit the kerb hard and had his rear left tyre separate from the wheel rim. He ended up seventh fastest.

"As always on the first day at the Hungaroring, the track was very dusty and as a result it was tricky to find the right balance," explained Coulthard. "I lost some time in the second session when I spun at the chicane, which punctured my left rear tyre.

"As I was making my way back to the pits slowly, my engine became hot so we had to bleed and refill the cooling system. I would have liked to do more laps, but we will try and make it up in tomorrow's two practice sessions."
