Q & A with Jarno Trulli

Conducted and provided by Renault's press office.

Conducted and provided by Renault's press office.

Q. Renault seems a special team to be part of. Is that true?

Jarno Trulli:

I have never felt as comfortable as I do here, and the atmosphere within the team at the moment is unique. With two seasons' experience, we know how to get the most out of the car.We work together instinctively. Human relationships are very important here: everybody gives their maximum, and trust is a big part of the Renault philosophy. It is the same thing with the drivers: Fernando and I are on the same wavelength. We don't hide things, or work against each other. What matters is how Renault performs on the track.

Q. What are your ambitions for 2004?

JT:

To do better than in 2003, obviously!

Q. And do you think you will?

JT:

I am very confident. I believe in Renault, and I am convinced we will be fighting with the top teams. Naturally, it will depend upon our reliability under the new regulations with one engine per weekend, but everybody at Viry is very positive. Of course, the other teams have not been standing still, and I expect the level of competitiveness to be even higher.

Q. How do you think you have changed as a driver?

JT:

On the circuit, I think I am as fast as ever, and my experience means I can cope with every type of situation. However, I think I have developed from a personal point of view. Previously, if things weren't going well, I would hide myself away and get frustrated. I am calmer now. I have understood that there are some circumstances you cannot do anything about. Staying positive can only help motivate the team.
