Q & A with Sebastien Bourdais
Q. You must be hoping to have a Friday where you don't have any problems?
Sebastien Bourdais: For sure it's always nicer. But like we said we were kind of lucky that we had the test here and we could at least discover the car and know some more about the setup. I had the opportunity to do a baseline at the very end, which wasn't too bad. It's not spot on as conditions have changed but we have a good idea of what we should be doing tomorrow.
Q. There's a lot of time to be gained in the stadium section. Would more wing help you there?
SB: I don't know - we'll see. But I don't think we can put much more downforce on the car. The last two corners are really tricky, they're very wind dependent. It's not really two corners - it's one really long corner - and you abuse the left-front really badly. Obviously it's crucial to get the balance right in the high-speed corners or you grain the tyres.
Q. This seems to be a track on which you use a lot of kerb?
SB: On exit, probably because they are mostly flat. As long as you don't go far in the astroturf it's always a little gain.
Q. What was the problem today?
SB: Flywheel sensor this morning and the [selector] fork in the gearbox this afternoon.
Q. Is Q3 possible this weekend?
SB: We'll see. The field is really bunched up this days so it doesn't take much to be in it or not in it. We'll give our best. We didn't help ourselves today because most of the work is done on Friday. But like we said we are pleased to have some references from the test and better knowledge of the car so hopefully we can be spot on for Saturday morning.
Q. So with last week's test it wasn't as big a setback as it might have been?
SB: Yes. Plus tomorrow the conditions are due to be even more changeable. We'll see what happens - it might rain in qualifying. Rain might help us, we'll see, but we'll take what we get.
