Prost to Introduce Technical Changes at Imola

The Prost Grand Prix team will introduce some technical changes in their Acer-powered AP04 at Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix.

The Prost Grand Prix team will introduce some technical changes in their Acer-powered AP04 at Sunday's San Marino Grand Prix.

The French outfit have endured a promising start to the year after a terrible 2000 season, and veteran driver Jean Alesi has finished the first three races of 2001, running in the points at the Brazilian Grand Prix ten days ago, eventually finishing eighth.

Hoping to score their first point since 1999, Prost will introduce some important changes for the Imola race.

"For this Grand Prix, the Prost Acer team will introduce a complete new brake system, including a modified brake pedal and a revised cooling system," said technical director Henri Durand. " Some new aerodynamic parts will also be adopted. Our main target is to qualify among the first ten.

"As for the race, we are very optimistic about the new Michelin tyres, which we tested last week in Magny-Cours. These tyres have brought a consistent improvement to our car and their performance could have a strong influence on our race next Sunday in Imola."
