Pollock Hopes for Top-Three Finish
Craig Pollock, British American Racing's Managing Director, hopes his team can finish in the top three in next year's Formula One Constructors' Championship after a promising 2000 season.
Craig Pollock, British American Racing's Managing Director, hopes his team can finish in the top three in next year's Formula One Constructors' Championship after a promising 2000 season.
BAR ended this season, its second in Formula One, in fifth position, equal on points with the Benetton team, and Pollock believes they will be able to fight for a top-three finish if they can put all the internal disputes behind.
During recent months, Pollock's position in the team has been rumoured to be under threat, as British American Tobacco was said to be unhappy with the way their team was managed.
However, Pollock confirmed he will stay in charge.
"The team has gone from strength to strength, and now what we need is stability at all levels," he said in an interview with Autosport. "I am the managing director of this team, and I have every intention of remaining as managing director.
"We have got to aim for third, even though that in itself is not good enough," he added. "We have got to get closer to the top two teams. We finished fifth in our second season, and if we could have seized all the opportunities, we could have finished third."
The Honda-powered team scored 20 points this year, the same as Benetton, but BAR finished fifth due to Benetton's better placings during the season.
