Pollock Dreams of Villeneuve in his CART Team

Jacques Villeneuve's manager Craig Pollock would love to have the Canadian Formula One driver in his CART team but he said on Wednesday that it was no more than a distant dream.

Jacques Villeneuve's manager Craig Pollock would love to have the Canadian Formula One driver in his CART team but he said on Wednesday that it was no more than a distant dream.

"Jacques is in Formula One today and has every intention of staying in Formula One for quite a few days to come," the Scot told a teleconference after announcing France's Patrick Lemarie as PK Racing's driver for the coming season.

Lemarie worked as BAR test driver with Pollock and Villeneuve.

The Former BAR Formula One team boss said that if Villeneuve, a former CART and Formula One champion, was ever to consider returning to the U.S. based series then it would in any case have to be with the best team.

"It would not necessarily just be PK Racing because Pollock is here. Probably Newman/Haas is probably going to be the best team to go to," he said.

Villeneuve is under contract to BAR this season but it could be his last at the Honda-powered team, who have signed Briton Jenson Button on a long-term deal and have Japan's Takuma Sato waiting in the wings as test driver.

The Canadian was linked in 2002 to a possible one-year return to CART for this season but the suggestion came to nothing. Pollock, who was a founder of BAR and has now set up his own CART team, said Villeneuve might consider returning to America one day, however.

"In the future if the Champ Car series, CART, goes the way that I feel it is going to go, then he might consider coming over," he said. "But we certainly haven't overly discussed it, not at the moment. He believes in the Champ Car series. He's a great, great believer in the series.

"He actually wants the series to turn around, and I think that's also why he's very happy that I've set this team up across here. I must admit, it would be a dream for me to have Jacques driving in my Champ Car."
