Others to Get Credit for My Work, Says Lauda

Sacked Jaguar Racing team principal Niki Lauda believes that a new boss of the Milton Keynes-based team will benefit from his hard work at the helm.

Sacked Jaguar Racing team principal Niki Lauda believes that a new boss of the Milton Keynes-based team will benefit from his hard work at the helm.

Lauda opted to ditch ageing drivers Ulsterman Eddie Irvine and Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa in favour of the younger Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia for the 2003 season. But Lauda, sacked on Tuesday by Ford bosses, believes that his replacement - yet to be named - will reap the rewards of the hard work put in since he took over from Bobby Rahal in 2001.

"Unsolvable tasks excited me (at Jaguar)," Lauda said in an interview with Blick. "Unfortunately now I do not know the end of this story. With Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia as the two new drivers we would have enjoyed a new and exciting era. Now others will be responsible for that and will get the credit."

Three-time World Champion Lauda has been offered a new role as advisor for Jaguar, and the Austrian admitted yesterday he was going to consider the offer.
