New Front Wing Doesn't Pay Off for Arrows

Despite introducing a revised front wing at the Hungaroring circuit, the Arrows team endured one of their worst qualifying sessions of the season on Saturday, and both Enrique Bernoldi and Jos Verstappen struggled during most of the day.
The Leafield-based team developed a new front end that was used for the first time around the twisty Hungarian circuit, but despite both drivers being happy with their work in practice on Friday, they were unable to translate that into a good result in qualifying. Brazilian Bernoldi was the fastest of the Arrows duo, setting a disappointing 20th quickest time.
"I was able to steadily improve during the qualifying session but then the engine cut out on my final quick lap," explained Bernoldi. "I could definitely have beaten [Luciano] Burti today and, at a push, [Fernando] Alonso. Now I have to look forward and think about tomorrow's race."
Verstappen was also downbeat after today's qualifying, where the Dutchman put his worst performance of the year so far following a difficult session.
"Well naturally I am very disappointed with my grid position," Verstappen said. "Nothing went my way today. It seems to me that the gap between us and the front row of the grid is increasing all the time and we need to stop it.
"Losing so much practice time this morning obviously didn't help but I couldn't avoid hitting the kerb as there was a lot of dust on the track there. All we can do now is concentrate on our plans for tomorrow's race."
