Mosley Will Stand For Re-election

Despite the criticism he has been subjected to by team bosses in last week’s meeting, FIA President Max Mosley confirmed he will stand for re-election next year.

Mosley was criticised due to his approach to the technical regulations and was asked to step down by influential Formula One bosses Ron Dennis (McLaren), Frank Williams and Eddie Jordan.

But instead of being discouraged, Mosley admitted this criticism has made his determination to stay even stronger.

"If people start saying 'you have to go', my immediate reaction is 'I'll have to stay'," said Mosley to Motoring News magazine. "It always has the opposite effect on me. So I will stand for re-election again next year - provided it's quite clear that the majority of the clubs want me."

Mosley added that the comments made by the team bosses were out of place, but also said they agreed on meeting more often in order to improve their communication.

"It's no business of the teams who the president is," he added. "All they do is choose whether they want to enter this championship. It would be like me saying that Ron Dennis should resign as the head of McLaren.”

Their next meeting will take place at this weekend´s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.
