Juan Pablo Montoya revealed today that his rivalry with Williams-BMW teammate Ralf Schumacher has been vital in helping him to stay motivated and get through this season of Ferrari domination.
German Ralf Schumacher admitted at the last race in Canada that the stunning performances of his World Champion brother Michael this season has left the rest of the drivers on the grid feeling bored.
But Montoya still gets a kick out of beating his teammate and said: "We still fight hard. We have a good thing with Ralf going, you know, pushing really hard, so that is good.
"I still want to beat Ralf as many times as possible and try to do things that we are able to do with this car. It is not like a job and you get a rubbish assignment and say 'I don't want to do that.' I do racing because I love it."
Colombian Montoya has enjoyed out-qualifying Schumacher in seven of the nine Grand Prix weekends this year and has scored twice as many points with 24 versus Ralf's 12.
Schumacher has shot into the distance with 70 points from a possible 80 while Williams have slumped to fourth place in the Consructors' Championship, having been overtaken by Renault and BAR-Honda.
But Montoya is not demoralised by his team's failure and said: "You know, I don't stay in bed watching television and think about it with a little Kleenex thing on the side crying about it - I've got better things to do!
"I get up in the morning and I don't think about it. Sometimes I think about how we can improve the car but apart from that I can't do anything to make the car go quicker. That is all it is and, you know, I have got a life."
