Montoya aiming for two in a row

Juan Pablo Montoya is looking for another strong result in the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, following his first win since September 2001 in the last race at Monaco

The Colombian reckons that his win on the streets of Monte Carlo has given him a boost heading into Canadian race, and is confident that the FW25 chassis and BMW engine should be suited to the unusual street circuit on which the race takes place.

"Naturally I am approaching Canada on a high," said Montoya. "The Monaco GP weekend was a huge boost for all the BMW WilliamsF1 team as we managed to be strong and consistent on a particularly difficult track. On so many occasions I recall that Monaco would be the race I would really like to win, and now I have achieved that objective.

"More than the confidence that the win gave me, I believe that the Gilles Villeneuve circuit should suit out chassis-engine-tyre package. I like racing in Montreal, it's a drivers' circuit, quite technical and unlike Monaco, it has a few overtaking opportunities."

Sam Michael, Williams chief operations engineer, agrees with his driver that the team's Monaco victory will give it extra confidence in Montreal. Michael also believes that clever race strategy will once again prove the key to victory.

"In Monaco the car was clearly competitive and it was encouraging to see such good results from our aggressive strategy," said Michael. "Winning has been a huge boost, so we are going to Montreal with a renewed confidence that we can fight for top positions.

"The Montreal circuit offers plenty of overtaking opportunities so once again we really need to concentrate on our strategy to be able to produce another winning performance."
