Mixed Fortunes for Jaguar Drivers

Australian Mark Webber was happy after another impressive start to his United States Grand Prix weekend.

Australian Mark Webber was happy after another impressive start to his United States Grand Prix weekend.

"It was quite tough for everyone," said the Jaguar driver after posting the third quickest time in first the qualifying session. "The only time we tried low fuel was in the qualifying session itself. The track was a bit more greasy than this morning's session.

"I'm happy with my lap. It's good to do a good solid lap, and we'll see what the weather brings tomorrow."

The conditions in the session were progressively faster for the first 10 cars before a downpour effectively ended the session as a competition. Webber's teammate Justin Wilson was one of the drivers caught up by the rain, the Briton finishing in 18th position.

"It was interesting circumstances with the wet weather, so we'll just see how it goes tomorrow," the Briton, still seeking his first race finish with Jaguar, said. "We went to the wet tires. It's the obvious choice under the circumstances. It's just difficult to know how it compares and how it was."
