The McLaren and Jaguar teams kicked off on Tuesday a three-day testing session at the Valencia circuit, continuing with the preparation work for the start of the upcoming season in Australia in less than three weeks time.

McLaren's test driver Alexander Wurz was the quickest man on track today with the Mercedes-powered MP4-17, finishing ahead of Finn Kimi Raikkonen, who after 30 laps, was less than a tenth of a second slower than the Austrian.

Of the Jaguar duo present at the circuit, Spaniard Pedro de la Rosa was the fastest driver ahead of teammate Eddie Irvine. Neither driver had a very busy day, as de la Rosa completed 15 laps and Irvine only 4 as the Milton Keynes team tested a new floor and a revised rear suspension in the R3. De la Rosa was more then 3.5 seconds slower than Wurz.

Both teams will continue testing at Valencia on Wednesday.
