Trulli on Top Again at Barcelona - Day Two

Renault driver Jarno Trulli set a blistering pace on the second day of testing at the Barcelona circuit in Spain, finishing more than two seconds ahead of his closest rival.

Renault driver Jarno Trulli set a blistering pace on the second day of testing at the Barcelona circuit in Spain, finishing more than two seconds ahead of his closest rival.

The Italian driver continued with the development work of the new Renault R202 chassis, being four tenths of a second slower than the track record, set by McLaren's test driver Alexander Wurz this year. Trulli, who had topped the times on Monday, was again followed by Brazilian Enrique Bernoldi in the Arrows A23.

Italian Giancarlo Fisichella, who had missed the first day of testing due to some neck pains after his accident at Valencia last week, took over from young German Marcel Lasee at the wheel of the second Honda-powered Jordan EJ12 chassis.

Fisichella was third quickest nearly three seconds off Trulli's pace, while Jordan teammate Takuma Sato was fourth with the second EJ12. Australian Mark Webber was fifth fastest with the Minardi PS02, while Spaniard Fernando Alonso finished at the bottom of the timesheets with last year's B201 Benetton chassis. Alonso, who concentrated on electronics testing, did not complete any flying laps.

Testing at the Spanish circuit comes to an end on Wednesday.
