Liuzzi surprised by qualifying showing

Vitantonio Liuzzi was surprised by his strong qualifying showing after a "nightmare" Friday practice sessions

The Italian Toro Rosso driver, who could only cover 21 laps in total yesterday, made it to Q2 and went on to qualify in 15th position.

Liuzzi admitted he was not expecting such a good day, and he was delighted with the outcome.

"After a nightmare yesterday, with very few laps because of a problem on the car, it went much better today, resulting in me getting through to Q2," said Liuzzi. "I had found it difficult to get the right balance on the car so we were expecting a difficult Saturday.

"Fortunately, everything went fine, except that I am not feeling that well and have been sick a lot. I think we did a great job in qualifying to get ahead of a Williams which I am sure is a quicker car. We could not have achieved more than this."

Teammate Sebastian Vettel completed a good day for Toro Rosso, the young German finishing in 17th position after missing the first cut by just 0.059 seconds.

He said. "It's a shame not to make Q2 by just a few thousandths of a second. My best lap was okay. I lost the rear end a bit going down the back straight and that cost me quite a lot of time.

"We have improved the car since yesterday and I think we have made a step forward. Now
