Liuzzi set for post-Monza test

Liuzzi has won six out of the eight F3000 races held to date and told Autosport.com at Spa: "I have been speaking with my management and I understand that there is a firm test being arranged after the Italian GP, possibly at Monza and possibly at Jerez. At the moment I'm not actually sure which team it will be, but we might know more later this weekend."

Liuzzi, who has Red Bull support, has been linked to Ferrari's Jean Todt who, it is thought, could oil the wheels of a potential deal with Peter Sauber. David Richards is also keen for BAR to have a look at Liuzzi's abilities but the Swiss team is expected to be the first to test the 23-year-old.

"The Jaguar situation is also still open, with Red Bull," added Liuzzi, "But I think it is more between Sauber and BAR."

Liuzzi is aiming at a racing seat in 2005 rather than an F1 testing contract: "For sure, to be test driver can be a good thing if there is a good future programme but I was born to race and that's what I would like to do."

Of possible future links with Ferrari, Liuzzi said: "If it's possible, that would be amazing, but at the moment I think it's too much of a dream. There is nothing concrete and I don't want to dream that much!"

Liuzzi admitted that a potential testing deal with Ferrari, linked to a future race opportunity, could change his mind about racing in '05. He set pole position for this weekend's Spa F3000 race on his fourth flying lap. His only previous experience of the track was 10 laps in a Mini Cooper a couple of weeks ago at a general test day at Spa.
