Leader Hamilton 'living a dream'
Lewis Hamilton has said he is living a dream after moving into the top of the championship table thanks to his second place at the Spanish Grand Prix
Hamilton, already the first driver in Formula One history to finish his first three races on the podium ahead of this weekend's race, has now 30 points to his McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso's 28.
The Briton has not only finished on the podium in the four races, but he has also led all four of them.
"I keep saying I am living my dream, it is really true," said Hamilton after the race. "I have been working so hard for this and to come into only my fourth Grand Prix and come out leading the championship with the top two drivers here is incredible."
The McLaren driver made a brilliant start from fourth place, overtaking Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen and then Alonso when the Spaniard went off the track after a brush with Felipe Massa.
Hamilton, who finished nearly seven seconds behind Massa, admitted the Brazilian was untouchable, but he believes his team are getting closer to Ferrari.
"I think going into the race we knew we had a very good strategy and here you cannot overtake so the key was to get best positioning at the first corner, aim to get as many places at first the corner," added Hamilton.
"I got past Kimi but Fernando and Felipe touched and I was able to get past Fernando. It was close because when I came by he nearly hit me.
"We didn't have pace of Felipe but we are a step closer and as I told him just now we will get him soon.
"The team did a fantastic job over the past four weeks, really pushed hard and I am pleased for the team with the constructors' titles."
McLaren lead Ferrari in the standings by nine points after the first four races of the season, despite the Italian squad's having scored three wins.
