Jordan Hoping for Stronger Sunday

The Jordan team endured a disappointing first qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix after finishing at the bottom of the times

For the first time this season, the Silverstone-based squad were outpaced by both the Minardis, with Tiago Monteiro finishing in 16th place while Narain Karthikeyan was down in 17th.

"It was a tough qualifying today for both our drivers on this difficult Monaco circuit," said sporting director Trevor Carlin.

"We have not performed quite as well as we had expected but this race is all about getting to the end and with our good reliability record this year I hope we can get a decent finish out of it."

Despite managing to outqualify his teammate, Portuguese rookie Monteiro admitted he was not happy with his car's handling and was hoping for a change of fortune in tomorrow's final session.

"We struggled a bit with the balance and the set-up here and it is quite tricky in street circuits if your car is not well balanced," said Monteiro. "However, we will now analyse the gathered data and I think we will go in the right direction for the race tomorrow.

"The race is very long in Monaco so everything is possible."
