Jordan denies tech boss is leaving

Jordan says that technical director Eghbal Hamidy is going nowhere, despite stories that suggest he has left the team and could be about to renew a working relationship with Adrian Newey at McLaren.

Hamidy's absence from Melbourne, his early return from a recent Jordan test in Barcelona and Gary Anderson's recent re-recruitment to the Jordan engineering strength have fuelled the gossip. Hamidy and Anderson allegedly did not see eye-to-eye in their time together at Stewart Grand Prix and paddock rumour suggests that Hamidy was escorted from the Jordan premises on Friday and would be placed on 'gardening leave'.

Officially, a factory memo says that he is on holiday. A Jordan spokesman told Autosport.com: "It's cast iron that Eghbal is planning to be around for a long time. It was always planned that he would only attend half a dozen races. As for the Barcelona test, it's true he returned early, but that was because we identified a problem with the car and he wanted to spend the next few days in the windtunnel."
