ITV Announces Improved F1 Coverage for the UK

More in-car cameras, improved access to the pits and paddock, enhanced programming and new music and titles will launch ITV's award-winning coverage of Formula One this year, the British broadcaster said today.

More in-car cameras, improved access to the pits and paddock, enhanced programming and new music and titles will launch ITV's award-winning coverage of Formula One this year, the British broadcaster said today.

While Formula One has made rule changes for the start of the new season, ITV is enhancing its coverage of the 16 Grands Prix, which begin with the Australian race in Melbourne on March 9th.

ITV will have double the amount of in-car cameras - six as opposed to three last year - and two radio frequency cameras to capture live interviews in the paddock and pits while both the race and qualifying sessions are ongoing.

New pacy opening titles and theme music for all ITV programming has also been commissioned with a specially-remixed version of Bachman Turner Overdrive's 'You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet' becoming the latest anthem for the sport.

Brian Barwick, Controller of Sport for ITV, said: "This is a very important and exciting season for F1 and also for television viewers around the world.

"We have been working very closely with Bernie Ecclestone and the top teams since the end of last season and we are all determined to provide the very best viewing spectacle for F1 fans.

"The changes to qualifying are sure to make that aspect of the race weekend much more unpredictable and we should see more exciting races as a result.

"We also have four British drivers competing in the Championship in (David) Coulthard, (Jenson) Button, (Justin) Wilson and (Ralph) Firman and ITV will be paying special attention to their progress throughout the campaign."
