Scot Allan McNish continued to show the potential of the new Toyota team by posting the third quickest time in Friday's practice for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The 32-year old rookie, driving at the Interlagos circuit for the first time in his career, was less than four hundreds of a second slower than compatriot David Coulthard, who driving a McLaren topped the timesheets in today's session.
McNish, who spun off the track in second practice, was happy with his start, but claimed there was still work to do to improve his Michelin-shod TF102.
"It was a pretty good start to the weekend," said McNish. "The car was quite reasonable at the end of the second session, although I think we still have to make it better for the race. I was just pushing a bit too hard late-on in the second session, which is why I went off the track.
"This is my first visit to Interlagos and I quite like the circuit. It is a lot tighter and has a lot more elevation changes than it looks on television."
McNish's teammate Mika Salo, the man who gave Toyota their first point at the Australian Grand Prix, was 15th quickest.
