Hill: I'm not returning to racing!
Former world champion Damon Hill has sent a clear message to his fans that he has no desire to return to racing, despite taking the star role in this weekend's 'Thunder in the Park 2' Minardi extravaganza
The 1996 champ will drive the Formula 1 team's two-seater at the Donington Park event which is aimed at raising money for the Down's Syndrome Association and grand prix racing's medical chief Sid Watkins' charity, The Brain and Spine Foundation.
"I will be driving the Minardi two-seater, but this is not me coming back to racing - I've got to emphasise that!" said Hill. "I've done my time in the sport, enjoyed it thoroughly, and I'm happy to be involved because we're hopefully going to raise a lot of money."
Although the emphasis of the event is on fun, Hill admitted that he is "very nervous".
"I've already started training, beginning with a strict regime of no chocolate biscuits. I thought I'd seen the last of an F1 car and there's every chance this is going to be a one-off!
"I don't really miss racing. I did enjoy my time in F1 enormously, I felt incredibly privileged to have had the success I did. But it's over now - absolutely no qualms about that."
Both charities are close to Hill's heart. His 13-year-old son Oliver was born with Down's Syndrome, while Sid Watkins remains one of the most popular figures in the sport.
