Herbert hopes to relive Silverstone glory
Johnny Herbert is hoping he can end his problem-plagued start to the season by claiming a points finish in his home race after qualifying 11th for the British Grand Prix
Herbert, whose victory for Benetton at the Northamptonshire circuit in 1995 ranks as the highlight of his long Formula One career, has failed to finish six of the seven races for Stewart Ford.
Despite rumours that his place in the team is in doubt despite an existing contract for next year, he said' 'I don't feel under pressure, except from within and wanting to perform at my best.
'I am expecting myself to do better in qualifying. This was a better performance but I have still got to improve.
'I am aware of that. I need things to go the right way for me and I cannot do that if I am having all these problems at every single grand prix.
'My number one aim is to finish the race, number two is to get some points. I think that is a possibility because the car is looking quite good. If the car holds together then I think I could be on for some points.
'I have only finished one race [fifth in Canada] and when I did that we did get some points so lets hope the car goes the whole way again.
'Obviously I'd like to be starting the race from higher up the grid, but I'm pretty optimistic for the race. Silverstone and I are old friends - I think I'll do my best work in the race.'
