Heidfeld Quickest on Second Day of Barcelona Testing

David Coulthard went quickest during the afternoon session on the second day of testing at the Barcelona circuit, but the Scot was incapable of beating Nick Heidfeld's morning time.
Heidfeld, who is driving for Sauber after leaving the struggling Prost team, had an impressive day with the Swiss outfit, which saw him beating Olivier Panis's Monday time by almost half a second.
The German driver, who spent much of the day practicing starts, was once again surprising during the afternoon, when he set the third quickest time behind Coulthard and Jacques Villeneuve.
Coulthard completed a massive 82 laps during the day, but he could not improve on his 1:20.331 - set in the morning - and was ended up fourth fastest overall.
Just like Coulthard, no driver was able to improve in the afternoon session.
Rubens Barrichello, taking over from Ferrari's test driver Luca Badoer, was third quickest for the Italian team, but only fifth fastest during the afternoon session, after lapping eight tenths of a second slower.
Jacques Villeneuve, who was expected to begin testing on Wednesday, returned to the cockpit today, and set the fifth fastest time of the day for BAR.
The Brackley-based team continued their drivers' development programme today, with both Mark Hynes and Takuma Sato running during the day.
While Hynes was slowest during the morning session, Sato occupied the last place of the timesheet during the afternoon, but the team was pleased with the both drivers' performances.
Jordan's Heinz-Harald Frentzen was sixth quickest after an apparent gearbox failure cut his running short during the morning.
His teammate Jarno Trulli was also unlucky, this time during the afternoon. The Italian driver was not able to complete a single lap, as his engine died just as he was about the leave the pits. However, the time set during the morning was good enough to be second fastest.
McLaren's test driver Alex Wurz, who is still limping a bit after his knee operation, was seventh fastest, just ahead of Finn Kimi Raikkonen, who only completed seven laps during the afternoon.
Antonio Pizzonia did all the testing for the Arrows team, the Brazilian setting the ninth fastest time on his second day with the team, who won't be testing tomorrow.
The three-day session in Barcelona continues tomorrow for one final day.
