Heidfeld, Glock to Test for Jordan on Thursday

German Nick Heidfeld will return to Formula One action tomorrow when he tests for the Jordan-Ford team at Barcelona, the Silverstone-based squad said today.

German Nick Heidfeld will return to Formula One action tomorrow when he tests for the Jordan-Ford team at Barcelona, the Silverstone-based squad said today.

Heidfeld, who had already tested for the Ford-powered team in December, is still hoping to secure a seat with Jordan after signing a preliminary contract. The German will be joined by compatriot Timo Glock, who made his F1 debut on Tuesday before handing over to Belgian Bas Leinders today.

Leinders, however, had a disastrous start to his test at Barcelona and crashed before completing his opening lap with the EJ13 car.

"Unfortunately he had an accident on the installation lap and we had to build the second chassis," said James Robinson, Head of Race and Test Engineering. "Although this allowed us to return to the track, it took several hours to achieve which left about an hour of running at the end.

"The mechanics did another excellent job today building the car from a tub and the car ran faultlessly once we got out, a credit to good teamwork."
