Heidfeld Furious with Ralf Schumacher

German Nick Heidfeld was furious with Williams' Ralf Schumacher and the two McLaren drivers after they forced the Sauber driver to slow right down during his final attempt, stopping him for improving his grid position for tomorrow's British Grand Prix.

"I'm really unhappy with Ralf Schumacher," said Heidfeld, who qualified in ninth place. "I was nearing the end of my final lap and was improving my times, when I found him and the McLarens going really slowly in the last section as they completed their warm-up laps.

"It was like a slow-speed traffic jam. I had to go up the inside kerb and on the grass, sideways, to avoid Ralf, and that ruined my chance of improving. I lost three-tenths of a second, which made a big difference to my grid position. I'm very disappointed because the car has been really good here all weekend."

Finn Kimi Raikkonen equalled his best qualifying performance on Saturday to continue with his outstanding Formula One debut for the Sauber team after setting the seventh quickest time of the day at the Silverstone circuit.

Raikkonen, who had qualified in the same position at the Canadian Grand Prix earlier this year, took full advantage of his past experience of the British track and will lead the fourth row of the grid on Sunday's race, the 21-year old praising his car's new aerodynamic package.

"We made some good progress with my car during qualifying, just by making very small but important changes to its balance," said Raikkonen. "Our new aerodynamic package has been working very well here, and I'm happy with my lap time and seventh position on the grid."
