Head Predicts 'Interesting' Start

Williams technical director Patrick Head is anticipating another wheel-to-wheel battle between Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya in the opening stages of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Williams technical director Patrick Head is anticipating another wheel-to-wheel battle between Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya in the opening stages of the Spanish Grand Prix.

Colombian Montoya was pushed wide by Schumacher in the opening lap of the last race in San Marino and hit out at the German over the incident.

But Head insists it is pointless to try to stop Montoya going hell-for-leather in pursuit of reigning World Champion again after the pair, led, by pole-sitter Schumacher, claimed the two front row slots for the Circuit de Catalunya race.

"It will make for an interesting start," said Head, who admitted being surprised that Schumacher was not sanctioned for the incident in San Marino. "I hope it's clean and both cars are still in the race after the first lap. But I think anybody that tries to talk to Juan and tell him to be cautious is talking to a stone wall.

"He knows he must finish to get a result, but he wants to win so he won't be giving any quarter to Michael. The first few laps certainly could be very exciting."
